About the Data
The data present the size and demographics of internal medicine training for academic years 2013/2014 through 2022/2023, for internal medicine residency programs and subspecialty fellowship programs.
The workforce data presented in this report were drawn from FasTrack®, ABIM's tracking database, a program to which program directors annually submit clinical competence evaluations for all residents and fellows. Because of the variability of when training data are submitted, the adjustments may over- or understate the actual number of trainees in a given year. To provide the most accurate data possible, each workforce report will present the most current data available.
