Continuing Medical Education
The American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) partnership with the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), it's easier than ever to earn Maintenance of Certification (MOC) points.
Explore CME Opportunities
Access the CME Passport to discover accredited continuing medical education (CME) activities eligible for ABIM MOC points. Filter by specialty, credit type, activity type and other preferences to find the perfect match for your professional development.
How It Works
- Participate in any qualifying CME activity: Look for the “CME Accredited/ABIM MOC” badge in materials for confirmation.
- CME Providers Submit Completion: CME providers report your activity completion directly to ABIM. Contact CME providers to learn about their process and submission timelines.
- Receive MOC Points: Once reported by your provider and if your ABIM fees are up to date, MOC points will be awarded automatically. ABIM will send you an email once your points are processed. MOC points for activities completed by December 31 will count toward that year’s requirements.
- Track progress: Keep track of your MOC points through the “My Activities” section of your ABIM Physician Portal.
CME Activities Eligible for MOC
CME activities that qualify for MOC points are diverse, including live and online formats. Examples include:
- Society meetings (live or virtual)
- Reading journal articles
- Grand Rounds and Tumor Boards
- Internet searches supporting clinical decisions at the point of care
- Quality and Performance Improvement activities
